“Who endowed the heart with wisdom or gave understanding to the mind?”
Job 38:36
The potential of everything is related to its purpose for being. Before we can understand the potential of a thing or person, we first must know the conditions under which it was meant to exist. Thus the most important thing for you and me, as human beings, is to try and find out for the rest of our lives what is the purpose for everything in life. That is our main goal. Unless we ask ourselves, “What is the purpose for everything in life?” we will die without having experienced the potential of everything. We will miss the wisdom of God in creation.
The apostle Paul, in the first chapter of First Corinthians, describes the wisdom of the world and the wisdom of God.
Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles (1 Corinthians 1:20-23).
When somebody tells you they are wise, don’t get carried away. Although they may have wisdom, it might not be the right kind of wisdom.
The most important thing is to try and find out what is the purpose for everything in life.
